Anthropic opened a research preview of Claude Duet for US Pro and Max subscribers on a waitlist. It runs on Claude Opus 5.5 and joins Claude as a proactive agent that summarizes and works across connected apps.

Duet uses a cloud VM and browser to run background tasks every few hours. It can draft files and handle business tasks, but it asks before sending messages, making payments, signing documents or deleting data and counts toward usage limits.
