Meta turned its Muse AI into a humanoid prototype called Max, built with Shanghai’s Fourier Intelligence. The 1.5 m, ~48 kg (106 lb) robot runs Nvidia’s Jetson Thor chip and was assembled in roughly three months.

Meta demonstrated Max internally and is already working on a second version. Meta acquired Assured Robot Intelligence in May 2026. Fourier is subject to Chinese law; the US has judged Chinese-made humanoid robots an unacceptable national security risk.
